Stay, Eat, Play: Crown Reef Beach Resort and Waterpark

We were hosted by Vacation Myrtle Beach for our honest review, as always opinions are our own.

What if I told you that you didn’t have to choose between spending a few days at a water park or the beach? That you could have the best of both worlds? Well that’s when Crown Reef Beach Resort and Waterpark comes in!

Not only that, but it’s also in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina a perfect destination for family and friends to spend their much earned vacation days.

We were excited when Vacation Myrtle Beach reached out to us to collaborate again on a Myrtle Beach trip. We happily said yes to Tristan’s most favorite place in the world!

Stay

With over 500 renovated rooms, there are many accommodations to choose from. Their rooms face the ocean and you can stay in one of their oceanfront rooms which have a microwave and refrigerator, or if you need more amenities to fit your needs, you can stay in an oceanfront efficiency room or suite with a full kitchen.

We stayed in their oceanfront suite for this visit. It has two queen size beds, kitchen and living room with a private balcony.

The efficiency rooms and suites are very ideal for families or those who want to save money on food. We love they include a full kitchen because Myrtle Beach can quickly get expensive eating out all the time, so it’s great to have the choice to cook in your room.

Plus, who could say no to breakfast or coffee with a view from your very own balcony?

Eat

Loco Gecko Beach Shak was our favorite on a previous stay at Captain’s Quarters Resort – another Vacation Myrtle Beach resort so it was really cool to eat there again since there is one on site at Crown Reef.

You really should try The Barney Club chicken sandwich and BBQ Pork or Chicken Shredder sandwich, they were my absolute favorite to order – one of the best things on the menu! Meshach is always looking for something spicy to eat wherever we go, so he was a big fan of The Spicy Redneck burger.

Tristan enjoyed the Corny Dog and Hang tenders from the Little Geckos kids menu.

We ate Rocky Mountain Oysters on our other visit to Loco Gecko. How could oysters exist in the mountains without an ocean nearby? Well, I’d tell you but then you wouldn’t find out for yourself when you visit. You’ll be surprised!

Loco Gecko is open for lunch and dinner along with a bar if you want to hang out with cocktails and great music.

The resort also has a daily breakfast buffet, just be sure to get there early when they open because it gets crowded later in the morning depending on the time of year you go. We were there at the beginning of May and it got crowded fast!

There is also a poolside bar and The Swirl Ice Cream and Sweet Shop when you’re craving poolside snacks and sweet treats. Grab n’ Go Grill and Coffee Bar is another great spot when you want an express breakfast on the go or to eat in your room.

All of the food spots are in a central place at The Town Center Dining, Entertainment and Fun Zone aka Town Center.

Play

Whether you like to chill by the water or dive in, you have plenty of options at Crown Reef Beach Resort and Waterpark.

Tristan and Meshach particularly love playing in the water so having easy access to the beach and pools was a trip saver. With 15 water features from fountains to hot tubs, indoor and outdoor pools and a onsite water slide – you could spend hours enjoying some fun in the sun!

Tip: There is a sun deck next to the water park, go there for some excellent sun and views.

If Tristan wasn’t playing in the water, you could find him at Game On! – a variety of fun, coinless games that disperses tickets you could use to redeem cool prizes. Tristan won a remote control truck – he was so proud of himself!

You don’t need coins to play the games. You can use a reloadable card to swipe and play. There is also a card machine that allows you to check your balance and add money to your card.

Game On! is also at Town Center just outside the doors of Loco Gecko. It practically became a ritual for us to eat at Loco Gecko, then play a few round of games afterwards.

Another perk for choosing to stay at a Vacation Myrtle Beach resort is the super convenient access to the beach. We saw a lot of people taking advantage of this in the early mornings and late evenings to walk out and watch the sunrise and sunset.

We even watched a man doing Tai Chi one morning on the beach as the sun rose – it was a beautiful moment.

Fun For Everyone

Crown Reef Beach Resort and Waterpark has everything you need for a fun vacation, especially with kids. Nowhere else in Myrtle Beach will you find a resort with a 575 ft lazy river, or a 302 ft Twister slide. It’s the ultimate place for a family vacation, and you don’t have to leave the resort to have a good time. Crown Reef is one of the largest properties out of all Vacation Myrtle Beach resorts. It definitely has it all and like their other resorts it is affordable for a budget friendly vacation.

Thank you so much to the team at Vacation Myrtle Beach for hosting us, it was another memorable experience and you’ve made us a #HappyGuest!
