Stay, Eat, Play: The Caravelle Resort

We were hosted by Vacation Myrtle Beach, as always opinions are our own.

We spent a few days in Myrtle Beach at the family friendly oceanfront, The Caravelle Resort which is one of Vacation Myrtle Beach’s 14 properties you can choose to stay at on your Myrtle Beach vacation.

All of Caravelle’s accommodations are newly renovated throughout its nine buildings that make up the resort.

We were of course, thrilled to experience another great resort from Vacation Myrtle Beach. If you’re planning a Myrtle Beach vacation and trying to decide where to stay, check out our Vacation Myrtle Beach reviews as we have stayed in quite a few over the years.

Stay

It was a few days before Christmas when we checked in to our Oceanfront Efficiency Two Doubles Room on the 15th floor. The very top floor with amazing views of the ocean and beach.

The best thing about visiting during off season is the feeling of having the resort all to yourself. However, a lot of people checked in on Christmas Eve as we were checking out. I guess they were staying for Christmas break!

Tip: The front desk is in the building across the street but the parking garage is located where the accommodations are. Onsite dining, The Santa Maria Restaurant is on the same side as accommodations and parking as well.

We typically spend Christmas at home so this was a first for us to be on vacation during Christmas break. Watch our room tour video on YouTube or on our IGTV, hosted by Tristan, it’s hilarious! He’d be a great fit for MTV Cribs if they ever want a reboot.
Our room at The Caravelle was beautifully decorated and it has a full kitchen (so you can actually cook meals to save money!), a dining table, cute seating area, private balcony and a bathroom stocked with bath necessities. I also want to mention the kitchen has plates, utensils, cups and cookware so you really don’t have to bring everything from your kitchen at home. (We actually did that on our very first visit to Myrtle Beach; don’t be like us, use that space in your suitcase for swimsuits or something!)

Eat

Because we went during off season, the onsite dining at The Caravelle was somewhat limited. For example, The Marco Polo Pool Bar and Grill was closed for the season along with The Pirate’s Cove Ice Cream and Sandwich Shop.

However, The Santa Maria Restaurant is open for buffet style breakfast daily throughout the year. Shout out to Miss Judy who also makes delicious made to order waffles and omelets!

You could also grab dinner and drinks at Liquids Lounge & Grill – a cozy sports bar in the same building with The Santa Maria Restaurant (literally next to each other once you walk inside.) We enjoyed chatting with their amazing bartender Amy, who had tons of knowledge about Myrtle Beach. And their chef, Joe, who made his spiciest hot wings for Meshach.

Play

You probably already know based on our oceanfront room that the resort is directly on the beach, right? That’s what we loved about staying at The Caravelle Resort. The beach is always steps away for play.

A favorite thing we enjoyed is waking up early to watch the sunrise from our private balcony. If visiting during the right time of the year, you might be lucky enough to see dolphins from your room like we did one year. The coolest thing to see!

If you want to do some sunbathing with a view from above, visit the 7th floor’s Sun Deck. While you’re on that floor, check out the indoor pool and hot tub. There is an additional hot tub on the outside as well.

In the mood for some gaming? Play at their onsite arcade located on the ground floor alongside their fitness room equipped with everything you need to stay on routine.

Tristan and Meshach had a blast playing at the Block Long Poolscape. It has a large heated pool (seasonally), whirlpool, lazy river, kiddie lazy river (also heated) and the Wild Water Pool. I had some lounge chair relaxation in the sun!

Fun and Friendly

Speaking of fun…..The staff were friendly and super helpful which made our time there a lot of fun. In all of our experiences with Vacation Myrtle Beach, we have never had or seen an issue arise with the staff. It’s also another reason why we recommend these properties to our friends, families and our readers.

Thank you so much again to the team at Vacation Myrtle Beach for hosting us, and continuing to make every guest a #HappyGuest!
